Major: FYE (Mechanical Engineering)

Year in School: Freshman

Hometown: Sarasota, FL

Fun fact about yourself: I’ve actually backpacked the entire Appalachian Trail. It’s a 2,185 mile footpath that goes from Georgia to Maine. Backpacking the Trail was an incredible experience, and I loved watching the terrain change and meeting new people. One of the most valuable lessons I learned was how to pack to make every ounce count by finding light materials that could accomplish multiple functions. It’s interesting looking back on that and realize how useful those principles are in engineering.

Favorite part about SWE: SWE is fantastic because it has so many different facets. I love that there are more technical opportunities like Grand Prix but there are also volunteer opportunities and events. Of course, it’s also wonderful to be part of the SWE community.
