This is an installment in a series of articles highlighting alumni of PSWE who wanted to share their experiences. Today’s alum is Rachel Massey.
“1. Where do you work and how long have you worked there?
I am a scientist in the Process Analytical Technologies group at Eli Lilly and Company. My group supports analytical equipment involved with the production of Lilly insulin medications. I have worked at Lilly since July 2015—I graduated from Purdue with a degree in biological engineering in May 2015. 🙂
2. What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part about my job is finding ways to make the manufacturing process more efficient—which means that patients get their life-saving medication faster!
3. What is a new hobby you’ve been able to pick up (or re-start)?
Since I moved to Indianapolis, I’ve refurbished a few pieces of furniture for my apartment. I enjoy bargain-hunting for cheap furniture and restoring the furniture by a new coat of paint, reupholstering, etc.
4. What do you miss most about PSWE?
I miss participating in Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) each spring and giving tours to middle school girls.”
