Have you ever wished there was a national holiday celebrating you? Chances are there isn’t BUT fortunately for you there is a holiday celebrating what you are doing here at Purdue! Mark your calendars for National Engineering Week, which is being celebrated this year from February 22nd through the 28th. For those of you may not have heard of or experienced E-Week before it is a week of organized events centered around the contributions of engineers. In particular the goal of the National Society of Professional Engineers is to raise awareness for how engineers impact our society through activities encouraging development in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math areas and outreach programs. These programs include New Faces of Engineering College Edition, an award recognizing achievements in the study of engineering, and the Global Marathon For, By and About Women in Engineering and Technology, an online opportunity to connect with other women in different stages of their STEM careers. Find a full list of national programs here. Some of you may have even participated in one of these programs that helped guide your decision to attend Purdue!
Purdue’s E-Week is scheduled for April 6th so that some of the events can be held outdoors, cross your fingers for good weather! This year’s theme is “Design the Future”. Last years events included a blood drive, Pancake Day, and a variety of engineering design challenges.
