Greetings fellow PSWE members!
Welcome back to campus for an exciting year back at Purdue and new activities with Purdue SWE! I am so excited to be back for my senior (and final!) year at Purdue and cannot wait to see what the year has in store for everyone. For those returning SWE members, I cannot wait to show you the new events that our executive board has been working on all summer to prepare for you this school year.
For new SWE members, whether you are a freshman or an upperclassman, welcome! SWE is an extremely beneficial organization to join, as we have so many possible activities and events to get involved with. I have personally gotten so much out of my involvement with SWE over the past three years, whether it has been through the opportunity to impact young students and encourage their interest in engineering through outreach activities, the personal and professional development I’ve received through attending conferences and interacting with company representatives at PSWE events, or the invaluable friendships that I’ve gained through getting to know other SWE members.
We have many different events to get involved with – but don’t feel overwhelmed with how many events we put on! SWE has a variety of different events to provide members with the opportunity to participate in outreach, socials, professional development, and technical competitions. Feel free to get involved with as many events as you would like – there is no pressure to do everything!
Come to our Ice Cream Social (Monday 8/26, 8 – 10 pm in Earhart West Rec Lounge) and/or our Call-outs (Tuesday 8/27 & Wednesday 8/28, 7 – 8 pm FRNY G140) to learn more about opportunities to get involved with PSWE and the new events we will be having this upcoming year! You will have the chance to interact with our executive board and learn more why they love SWE and personally decided to get more involved.
I can’t wait to see you there! Feel free to come talk to me at any event and ask questions or tell me about why you decided to get more involved with SWE!
