January AMM Recap

Yesterday, CH2M Hill kicked off the first All Member Meeting (AMM) with a blast of inspiration and fun.  A Purdue graduate in Civil Engineering herself, Katelyn Milius (the speaker) motivated us to try new things and be ready for the future by her lecture titled, “My lessons learned at Purdue.”  Encouraging us to not be afraid to change majors and to be ready for anything, she talked to the full classroom about her journey through Purdue and her career so far.  A highlight from her speech was her rather interesting interview for an internship.  During the interview, the interviewer asked her to extend her arms and show him hpalm readinger palms.  Surprised, she turned her hands upside down, her palms facing the interviewer.  To her amazement, he read her palms like a fortune-teller.  With that note she assured, “Even though your journey might not be what you expect it, keep moving forward; you can learn something new in everything you do.”

Here is the outline of Katelyn’s lecture.

  1. Talk to your roommate; you might need them in the future
  2. Get Involved
    • She recommended Old Masters for a leadership role
  3. Explore your passions
